- High Sensitivity Portal Monitor
- Continuously Scan Moving Pedestrians
- Gamma and Neutron Radiation Detection Options
- Fast, Seamless Integration
The TSA PM700 automatically scans pedestrian traffic without the need for frequent calibration. They are intended for applications where the relatively low energy emissions from 235U and 239Pu are the main concern. They are currently in use at uranium enrichment plants, weapons manufacturing plants, weapons storage sites, nuclear laboratories, nuclear waste disposal and storage sites where detection of Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) is essential.
Advanced Design Features
The TSA PM700 monitor is a stand-alone pedestrian radiation portal monitor (RPM) with excellent sensitivity and reliability. The PM700 large detectors and unique detection algorithm improve its performance to the point that it can achieve ASTM Standard C 1169 Category III* sensitivity for SNM. All of the essential components are contained in the pillars; radiation detectors, controller, and occupancy detector. The system operates from an internal battery. The battery is constantly charged from the site’s AC line during normal operation. In the event of a power outage, the battery permits continued operation for at least 12 hours.
Programmable Detection Parameters
Selectable settings for sensitivity, energy discrimination, and fault levels may be entered by the administrator.
Easy-to-Operate
After the initial site preparation is completed, the system can be installed and operating in less than an hour. When the system is powered up, it acquires an initial background count typically within 20 seconds. The background count is continually updated until the system is occupied. When the monitor senses occupancy, the system starts comparing the current count with the most recent background data. Alarm comparisons are made every 200ms. If the count exceeds the alarm level, both audible and visual alarms will be triggered. The system monitors itself and indicates low and high background conditions.
Flexible Detection Options
The TSA PM700 is available in three configurations; Gamma, Neutron or a combination of Gamma and Neutron detection. Gamma provides detection of ionizing radiation and Neutron provides detection of Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) while the combined Gamma and Neutron provides the most powerful detection capabilities for radioactive isotopes even in shielded materials.
Interface Options
With the optional Remote Alarm Panel operators can view alarms up to 300m from the monitor. The TSA PM700 is compatible with TSA RAVEN™ communications software designed to both capture and view data and video images relating to a radiological detection incident.
- Portal Monitor for Indoor or Outdoor Installation
- Continuously Screens Moving Pedestrians
- Easy to Relocate
- Cost Effective
The TSA PM702 personnel radiation portal monitor (RPM) was designed for monitoring applications that require less sensitivity or for situations that require a semi-portable monitor. While it has adequate sensitivity for security applications, it is primarily designed for use in hospitals, laboratories, and other locations where radioactive Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) need to be monitored.
Cost Effective, Reliable Detection
The TSA PM702 radiation portal monitor is a highly reliable system for the radiometric protection of special nuclear material (SNM). It exceeds the criteria for an ASTM Standard C 1169 Category II* SNM monitor which will detect 10 grams of 235U (HEU) on a walk-through basis when using the stop feature.
Flexible Design
The TSA PM702 is suitable for indoor or outdoor installation. The system consists of three main components; two vertical pillars each containing an organic plastic scintillator detector, and a crossover pillar. An optional step through feature provides optimal SNM monitoring.
Easy-to-Operate and Manage
A numeric keypad alarm with an LCD display attaches to the pillar and provides both audible and visual alarm indicators. The system operates from an internal battery. Under normal conditions the memory should be adequate to store data for at least 3 months of operation.
Interface Options
The TSA PM702 is compatible with TSA RAVEN™ communications software designed to both capture and view data and video images relating to a radiological detection incident.
- Portal Monitor for Trains or Large Vehicles
- Continuously Screen Moving Cargo
- High Throughput
- Cost Effective
The TSA TM850 automatically screens railroad or vehicular traffic without the need for frequent calibration. High sensitivity allows the TM850 to be used at transportation hubs requiring a wider installation area and high throughput such as at ports and customs and border entry points. The TM850 is designed for use in harsh environmental conditions.
Advanced Design Features
The TSA TM850 is a train and large vehicle monitor with excellent sensitivity and reliability. The TM850 consists of two self-contained, weather resistant pillars placed on either side of the railroad track or roadway to be monitored. Each pillar contains two large plastic scintillator detectors, four neutron detector blocks with either two or four neutron detectors each, multiple occupancy sensors, and an amplifier. The master pillar also has a battery, power supply, battery charger, and a system controller.
Programmable Detection Parameters
Selectable settings for sensitivity, energy discrimination, and fault levels may be entered by the administrator.
Easy-to-Operate
When the system is powered up, it takes twenty seconds to acquire an initial background. The background is continually updated until the system is occupied. When the TM850 senses occupancy, the system starts comparing the current count to the most recent background data. Alarm comparisons are made every 200ms. If the count exceeds the alarm level, both audible and visual alarms will be triggered. The system monitors itself and indicates low and high background conditions.
